On November 3, 2019., in the ceremonial hall of St. George (Waterloo), organized by the Diocese of Canada, was celebrated the 800th anniversary of the Serbian Orthodox Church's autocephaly.

This solemn ceremony began with the Holy Eucharistic Liturgy at Holy Trinity Church in Kitchener served by His Holiness Mr. Mitrofan, Bishop of the Diocese of the Canadian Serbian Orthodox Church, based in Milton, and retired Bishop of Slavonia, Sava with a large number of the priests from Ontario and Quebec.

Ceremony in the George banquet hall was opened with a prayer spoken by His Holiness Bishop of Osijek and Baranja G. G. Heruvim. The guests were addressed by: Bishop of Canada G. G. dr. Mitrofan, His Excellency Mr. Marko Milisav, the new Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Canada, Mr. Vasilije Petkovic, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Toronto and His Holiness the retired Bishop of Slavonia Sava. Among those present were two members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, one of them was Lepa Jankovic with Serbian heritage. More than 500 guests enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere filled with a rich cultural and artistic program in which they participated: Hor Kir Stefan Stefan, Hor Sv. Roman Melod and Hor Iveroni; folk groups: Oplenac, Gavrilo Princip, Iveroni and Stevan Sinđelić.
