Kova_JustinAmbassador Koviljka Spiric attended the reception which was on the occasion 40th anniversary of diplomatic missions of the European Union to Canada February 18, organized by Ambassador Marie-Anne Coninsx. The reception was attended by accredited diplomat in addition to Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Foreign Minister Stephen Dion, Minister of Defence Harjit Sajjan, and Chairman Pralamenta Canada Geoff Regan.

During the reception, Ambassador Spiric met with Prime Minister Trudeau who was informed that in mid-February Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted an application for accession to the EU, by which Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed its pro-European orientation. She underlined the importance of Canada for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of its role as a member of the PIC and the fact that in this country, is large and reputable Bosnian communities.

In a conversation with Foreign Minister Stephen Djon they exchanged information on activities related to the announced visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak to Canada. Špirić thanked the Minister Dion for the cooperation of members of his cabinet and staff of the competent departments in the ministry.

Ambassador Spiric on this occasion talked with the Minister of Defence of Canada Harjit Sajjan which was in peacekeeping missions and he spent a year in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He said he is very familiar with Bosnia and Herzegovina, its natural beauty, kutluru, tradition and gastronomy. Minister Sajjan expressed his readiness , if the circumstances allows that, meets with Minister of Foreign affairs Crnadak during his visit to Canada.

It is interesting to mention that the delegation of the European Union , its diplomatic mission opened in 1976 at a time when Prime Minister of Canada was Pierre Trudeau father of today's prime Justin.
