NATO_ForumAmbassador Koviljka Spiric and counsellor Fuad Didic participated in the NATO Economic Forum on February 27th, 2015 in Toronto. The forum, which is traditionally organized by the NATO Council of Canada, is dedicated to strengthening economic ties between Canada and the region of Southeast Europe. The participants included representatives from Bulgaria, Romania, Macedonia, Albania, Turkey, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as representatives fromCanadian institutions and the business sector.

Julie Lindhout, president of the Atlantic Council of Canada, emphasized that NATO is not only a military organization but an organization that increasingly supports the economic development of countries in terms of preservation of stability and peace.

Ambassador Spiric emphasized the importance of the fact that the NATO Council of Canada addresses issues of business and economic development of the region, because peace and security are directly related to economic prosperity. She stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a safe country, butlacks economic growth and support of foreign partners and investors. In this regard, she stressed the role of Canada as a member of the PIC, and that BiH expects greater involvement in the field of economic support and investment. Ambassador Spiric also stressed the importance of regional cooperation, especially when it comes to infrastructure projects and added that the region, in this regard, was certainly interested in partners such as Canada.

Ambassador of Turkey in Canada,SelcukUnal, presented impressive indicators of economic development of the country, and Canadian investment in the construction sector, tourism and agricultural area. Representatives of companies from Canada presented their experiences in investments in the region, particularly in Bulgaria and Macedonia.

After the presentation and discussion, Ambassador Spiric and counsellor Didic talked to a counselor for economic affairs from the Canadian Embassy in Budapest, Gergely Morvai, as well as with representatives of several companies that operate or intend to invest in our region.
